Liberty Mountain and Peregrine Outfitters Merge

E-mail

Gary HewardLiberty Mountain and Peregrine Outfitters have reached an agreement for Liberty Mountain to acquire Peregrine Outfitters and merge their distribution and fulfillment businesses. President of Liberty Mountain, Gary Heward will become president of the merged distribution organization and he and his wife Diana will become owners. Peregrine Outfitter's President, Bob Olsen will stay close to the business as a consultant.

The merger will see the businesses operating under the Liberty Mountain name but continuing to use the brands Peregrine Outfitters has built. Each company brings a wide assortment of products and with the merger the group will support and expand on the product lines currently represented. Together Liberty Mountain/Peregrine Outfitters will adhere to the values each company supported before the merger. The group will offer a wide selection of gear, easy ordering and prompt shipping, with the merger they only hope to improve these services.

Liberty Mountain will feature its items and brands in the 2012 Liberty Mountain “Everything for the Outdoors” catalog. Brands will include Vaude, Outdoor Designs, Trangia, Olicamp, Stram, Equinox and all other exclusive brands that the organizations currently distribute. In all, the distributor has an offering of 800 brands and 15,000 non-exclusive items.

There will be no change to Liberty Mountain's exclusive climbing distribution through North America, including Grivel, Edelweiss, Beal, Pieps, Singing Rock, Cypher, Stubai, Valandré and Kong. These brands will have their own catalogs and be offered to the best technical shops.

The merged organization will continue to operate warehouses in both Salt Lake City, UT and Montoursville, PA. Shipping for Peregrine Outfitters has moved to these warehouse and Liberty Mountain has agreements to increase its space at both locations in the immediate future.

Liberty Mountain and Icebreaker, the merino wool brand, are the most recent additions to the Grassroots Outdoor Alliance vendor group.
