Patagonia Footwear has announced a renewed focus on trail running for the Spring 2012 season, represented by a partnership with female ultra runner Krissy Moehl and Patagonia's Ultra Running Team. Together the runners and Patagonia Footwear developed an expanded line of trail running shoes.

The brand has also started sponsoring key events like the Mountain Masochist, a 50-mile race through Appalachia country in Virginia on Saturday, November 5. Minimalist and traditional offerings for Spring, the Fore Runner and Tsali 2.0 will be on display in the Patagonia hosted “athlete's lounge” along with apparel to try.

Two Patagonia Ultra Team members will be racing in the Tsali 2.0 themselves and the runner will be available to the public February 2012. It is designed for runners who prefer a more neutral, cushioned running shoe. The Tsali 2.0 has 20 percent recycled anatomical footbed supports that cushion and mold to the foot.

The Fore Runner will be available December 2011, and is Patagonia Footwear's lightest trail shoe yet. A minimal shoe, it offers a four millimeter drop to cater to a natural stride.

All of Patagonia's trail running shoes are built with gender-specific, lightweight 15 percent recycled EVA footframes and contain forefoot shock absorption plates for protection from rocks and roots.
