on .

Nantahala Outdoor Center StoreThe Outfitter's store at Nantahala Outdoor Center (NOC) celebrates the company's 40th anniversary in style by applying to become a Leed Gold certified facility. The LEED Gold certification measures the overall environmental efficiency of a building, looking at the construction and interior design to determine whether the building is healthful, durable, affordable and environmentally sound.

NOC would be the first business within Western North Carolina region to obtain a LEED Gold Certification. As part of the process, NOC will install light sensors that will dim retail lighting during the daytime, will recycle most construction materials and will use renewable energy credits to offset 100% of the stores energy consumption.
