Wave Sport, an industry leader in freestyle kayaking, has unveiled its much-anticipated Project X playboat for the 2011 season. With a sleek design, new volume distribution and new outfitting system, the Project X promises a new benchmark in paddler control in both waves and holes.
According to Wave Sport’s lead designer, Robert Peerson, the progressive rocker shape of the hull is tuned to maintain speed, give explosive pop, offer easier release, and provide smooth control over any wave for easier execution of moves. He also added that more volume has been added around the knees, which allows for control and maximum comfort, as well as “slicier performance at the ends.”
Other features include a unique vinyl that covers the seat, hip-pads, backband, and thigh braces. It is water-repellant, making for less dry time and better mildew control. Wave Sport’s Project X will hit stores January 2011 with an MSRP of $1,049.
