Garmin is recalling around 1.25 million Nüvi personal devices worldwide; 796,000 of which were sold in the United States. The batteries, manufactured by an outside supplier, are overheating due to a specific printed circuit board, which can lead to a fire hazard.
There have been less than ten cases of overheating reports, but Garmin is being precautious and recalling all Nüvi models with this battery.
Users can go online to see if their model is affected. Garmin will be replacing the batteries free of charge. To check your device, go to: https://my.garmin.com/rma/recallLanding.faces.
