Google Earth

Google Earth has released a new version of its desktop application which one might think was made just for outdoor enthusiasts.

In this edition, users can recreate the path of a hike, trek, or bike ride using geo-data from a GPS device. Speed, elevation, and other stats are displayed as part of an animation inside Google Earth.  Physical information such as heart rate can also be overlayed in a graph below the animation.

Google Earth product manager Peter Birch made an example video of his bike ride to work.

Nice feature this one from Goggle Heart 5.2. It adds to the already excellent product.
