Dakine has launched their outerwear for the next Fall 2012 and Winter 2013 seasons. The styles span all price points, but each have a number of features and a classic fit with space for layers. Nine men's jackets, five men’s pants, six women’s jackets and three women’s pants will make up the initial offering.
The outerwear line is part of the Dakine goal to provide a complete snow program, one that meshes with all lines of packs, bags, gloves, headwear, base layers and accessories.
Dakine's design is influenced by their proximity to Mt. Hood and the desire to create gear that performs worldwide in a variety of conditions. To meet these rigors the line will include non-insulated shells and lightly insulated to fully insulated styles. The construction of the line with lightweight performance fabrics further underpins the functionality.
Waterproofing and breathability will vary through the line, depending on the user's needs with three different levels to chose from. Seams will also be critically taped or fully taped based on the level of desired waterproofing, and all outside surfaces are treated with a solvent-free Teflon Durable Water Repellent finish to provide the initial barrier to rain and snow.
For insulation Dakine's component lining system will be paired with Primaloft One insulation. The Men's Drift Down Jacket and Women's Kensington Down jacket will have goose down for maximum warmth.
In addition to protecting individuals from the elements Dakine will be working to protect the environment. To minimize their environmental impact the brand is working with Bluesign approved fabric mills such as Everest and using 100 percent recycled polyester shell fabrics in selected jackets.
Building on the line's story Dakine has signed amateur snowboarder Justin Norman and skier Sam Cohen to the outerwear team. Professionals Chris Benchetler and Shayne Popisil are also wearing the new outerwear.
The new line of outerwear will be shown to retail partners at upcoming shows such as OR, SIA and ISPO.
