La Sportiva Rolls Out Ski Mountaineer Apparel
La Sportiva will debut a full line of technical ski mountaineering apparel at the 2012 OR Winter Market, SIA Snowshow, and ISPO Munich tradeshows. The brand used their team of designers in the Dolomites, gathering feedback from ski mountaineers to design light and efficient apparel. The first to distribute the line which includes hard shells, soft shells, insulating mid layers, and performance base layers will be specialty outdoor retails stores where the brand's recognition is strong.


Brooks-Range has updated its Ski Guide Cards (SGCs) by working with the American Institute for Avalanche Research and Education, American Avalanche Association and American Mountain Guides Association.
Kai Lenny, an accomplished stand up surfer is working with Naish to take on his new challenge, SUP racing. Lenny is competing in the Stand Up World Racing Series for the first time this year and is paddling Naish boards designed for the challenges of SUP races. These rigors were particularly evident at the North Shore Paddle Challenge held on Oahu, where boards had to battle surf but perform on flatwater.
Ortholite has partnered with Timberland to incorporate its X-40 insole into Timberland's Radler Camp Series. By next spring, Ortholite insoles will be in the Radler Camp Boat Moc, and by fall in the traditional Radler Camp Moc.
W.L. Gore has collaborated with Armada Skis to revamp the Vector Series of outerwear, a line inspired by guides and athletes. The series will debut at SIA and ISPO tradeshows in 2012 and incorporates Gore-Tex fabric throughout.
The EPA has announced the winners of its Apps for the Environment challenge. Developers from around the country were encouraged to create apps that address environmental and public health issues from EPA data. Apps ranged from information about local air quality to games.
Boardworks has announced a new inflatable SUP designed with patented Multi Chamber Inflatable Technology (MCIT) and the Axially Stabilizing Apparatus. Designer Phil Rainey says the new technology will allow the incorporation of elements usually reserved for hard boards, including tapered rails and enhanced rigidity. These features are included to make the MCIT accessible for all levels of SUP paddlers, from beginners and surfers to fitness paddlers and river runners. It is also easy to store and transport, great for instructional programs.
