The Iranian government is set to release one of three American hikers who have been jailed for over a year. The Associated Press confirmed that the Culture Ministry notified the media that they would be able to witness the release of a prisoner this Saturday at the Estaghlal Hotel at 9 a.m. Iran is doing this to mark the end of the Islamic holy month of Ramadan, and show an act of mercy in celebration of the holiday. The United States has no diplomatic presence in Iran so the state department cannot confirm anything, and is waiting for a press release from the Swiss embassy in Tehran, which represents U.S. interests and affairs in Iran.
