The Sierra Club and The North Face have chosen Evan Geary as the winner of the “Best Internship on Earth,” a program designed to increase awareness and benefits around connecting young adults with the outdoors. The internship comes with a stipend, all-expenses paid travel and $2,000 worth of gear from The North Face.
Evan Geary will spend his summer with the "Best Internship on Earth" traveling the country and creating energetic video reports on the Sierra Club’s Inner City Outings, Building Bridges to the Outdoors, and Volunteer Vacations programs. He will hike, raft, climb and cavort with other participants in these programs, recording the experience in video blogs and promoting the importance of giving all young people opportunities to experience the outdoors.
Geary is 23 years old, and studied film at NYU. He is originally from Webster, NY. His winning video can be viewed below, as well as on the Best Internship on Earth web page, Sierra magazine online and The North Face’s PlanetExplore where America can follow his adventures across the country in the coming months.
More than 800 students and recent graduates from all parts of the country created video applications in hopes of hiking, rafting and climbing mountains nationwide as the Sierra Club’s Outdoor Youth Ambassador. The top 10 finalists for the program will receive a free pair of hiking boots from Hi-Tec to help them enjoy the outdoors this summer.
