The Appalachian Mountain Club has named John D. Judge as the new president. Judge brings his experience in transforming the Greater Boston Chapter of Habitat for Humanity to one of the top-performing members. Most recently, Judge served as Chief Development Officer for the City of Springfield, MA, overseeing projects that set the city on a sustainable path including the construction of the state's largest solar field. He is the founder of Judge Co., focused on inner-city real estate development and construction.

Judge's work with the Appalachian Mountain Club will aim to get more people outdoors, and expand the club's role as a conservation leader in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions. He will be responsible for more than 100,000 members in 12 chapters of the club from Maine to Washington D.C.
