It's that time again! Outdoor Retailer Winter Market (ORWM) takes over the Salt Palace Convention Center from January 20 to 23 for the 2011 show, with new product, new seminars and new events. Workshops and events will focus on sales trends, trade and recreation participation, sustainability and methods for retailers to motivate staff.
The show kicks off with the All-Mountain Demo on the 19th, in a new location at the Solitude Mountain Resort. The Demo showcases new products and allows guests to test them on the slopes.
The show keeps attendees moving with a wide array of new product to see and educational seminars to visit. Additionally, the Outdoor Industry Association (OIA) and The North face put on this year's industry breakfast to discuss issues of sustainability. That evening is the industry party, featuring the "Winter Exposure" runway show, where brands will be showing off their latest outdoor styles. It is also the location of the Canada Goose Cup for the Conservation Alliance, a friendly street hockey competition to raise money for the Alliance.
On Friday, OIA and Adidas Outdoor host the Outdoor Inspiration Awards Celebration, with host Reinhold Messner. It awards companies, groups, and individuals whose efforts have created appreciation for and participation in outdoor activities.
Project OR, the design competition, is back for 2011 with six contestants competing to create the most innovative and beautiful outdoor garment.
To ease the process of getting to all of these events, the improved Winter Show app for smartphones now has an interactive map with GPS to help locate where you are in the convention center. The application can be used without internet connection or cellular service and can be used long after the show has ended to reference the exhibitor list, brand videos and product searches.
