Team Vasque Victorious at the 2010 Gore-Tex TransRockies Run

E-mail
TransRockies RunAfter 6 grueling stages, 115 miles of running and 19 hours on the trail, Bryan Dayton and Krissy Moehl of Team Vasque were the first place finishers in the open-mixed category for 2010 at the 4th Annual Gore-Tex TransRockies Run.

This was Dayton and Moehl’s first time participating in the race and also their first time running as a team. Their official winning time was 19 hours, 2 minutes and 16 seconds, putting them a full 12 minutes ahead of the second place team, Frontrunners West Shore, from Canada.

“We are both sponsored by Vasque, but we have different running specialties,” says Moehl, who usually focuses on 50- to 100-mile races, as compared to Dayton’s marathon and shorter distances. “Bryan was an amazing running partner and we became a solid team.”

The Gore-Tex TransRockies Run begins in Buena Vista, CO, and takes runners on six grueling, yet stunning stages through sandy high desert, magical aspen glades, stately pine forests, historical ghost towns, frigid creek crossings and exposed 12,000 foot passes, and ends at Beaver Creek ski resort. Team Vasque was one of 18 teams who finished the race, with only one team dropping out due to injuries.

Dayton, who lives in Boulder, CO, and spends most of his time running and skiing the Colorado Rockies, excelled on the uphills. Moehl, who resides in Seattle, WA, is an accomplished long distance runner who dominates on the downhills.

“We’re looking forward to Stage 7 (a.k.a. the post race party) and I might even take a few days off from running,” said Dayton after the race.
