Outdoor Industries Women's Coalition has announced that Donna Carpenter, president and co-owner of Burton Snowboards will act as keynote speaker for the 2012 OIWC Breakfast and Awards Presentation. She will address issues such as “Where are all the women? Why diversity is good for business.”
Carpenter has been an advocate of women's mentoring and career coaching, even creating the Women's Leadership Initiative at Burton. The initiative focuses on stewardship, products and issue resolution. Transworld Business named her as one of Action Sports’ Most Influential Women of 2010 for her influence on Burton’s generous maternity and paternity policies, work-life balance and overall flexibility.
The breakfast will also include an awards presentation, crowning the 2011 Pioneering Woman Award and the 2011 First Ascent Award. The breakfast and awards presentation will take place from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. on January 21st at the Marriott in downtown Salt Lake City, UT.
