The American Alpine Club announced the theme and location of the group’s signature and largest annual event, the Annual Benefit Dinner. Taking place over the weekend of March 2 and 3, the dinner will be held at the Seaport Hotel in Boston with the theme of Partnership: Climbing through the Generations.
The first night will host a Member’s Meeting and Climber’s Gathering. The second night, Saturday, will include the dinner itself, awards, an auction and a keynote presentation.
Fittingly, Mark Richey, a Boston native, and climbing partners Freddie Wilkinson and Steve Swenson will deliver the keynote presentation. The team will discuss their August 2011 expedition to climb Saser Kangri II, the second-highest unclimbed mountain in the world.
The American Alpine Club is a 110 year-old organization that advocates for climbers around the world and promotes the spread of alpinism through activities, education and grants.
