The North Face announced they will continue their sponsorship of the The North Face Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc for another three years. This partnership reaches back to the inception of the Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc in 2003 and now with the extension, The North Face will see the race through its ten year anniversary in 2012.

The North Face sponsors several other ultra-running events worldwide including events in Spain, Italy and The North Face Endurance Challenge series here in the U.S. The Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc is a combination of four races ranging from 98km to 300km which push runners to the limit starting in Chamonix, France and going through Italy and Switzerland.

The Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc spans nine high elevation mountain passes with a total positive height gain of 9,500 m. Though challenging 2,300 runners compete annually in late August.

Beyond sponsoring the event, The North Face also sponsors some of these athletes from around the world as they compete in ultra-running events. Among the sponsored runners are Americans Hal Koerner and Mike Wolfe; to runners from Japan and France, Tsuyoshi Kaburaki and Sebastien Chaigneau, respectively.
