Gear to Grow has selected Appalachian State University for the launch of a student ambassador pilot program. The non-profit will use the ambassadors to generate awareness on campus through a special project of their choice. They will also locate new beneficiaries to receive gear or apparel donations from Gear to Grow and foster relationships with local retailers to generate those donations.
JT VonLunen, co-founder of Gear to Grow, cited the Applalachian State University students' interest in the outdoors as a key element in deciding to launch the ambassador program there. The program will remain in pilot form until May, when Gear to Grow hopes to expand the program to multiple college campuses in the fall.
