The North Face announced the beginning of the second cycle for their 2011 Explore Fund grant program. Aimed to support youth involvement in the outdoors, the fund will provide $125,000 in micro-grants to non-profit organizations that spur youth outdoor engagement. This year the fund will reward non-profits with grants totaling a quarter of a million dollars. Overall, the fund has provided $425,000 in grants to foster a stronger relationship with the outdoors, encourage an active lifestyle and protect natural landscapes.
During this second cycle of the Explore Fund, grants with be awarded to organizations whose activities focus on fall and winter exploration. Within these activities three different area will be assessed: access to front and back country recreation, education for personal and environmental health, and connection to nature.
