Buff Inc.'s Teen Athlete Sets Everest Record

E-mail

Buff IncBuff, Inc athlete Jordan Romero has become the youngest person to summit Mount Everest. Romero departed for Kathmandu on April 5 and scaled the 29, 035-foot peak on Saturday May 22, 2010. “Team Jordan” – composed of Romero’s father, his father’s girlfriend, and three Sherpa guides helped the 13-year-old ascend the technically more difficult northern side of Everest. The southern approach from Nepal requires climbers to be at least 16.

Communicating via satellite phone from a Base Camp about 8,000 feet below Everest’s summit, Romero called his achievement a feeling unlike any other and hoped his record would help inspire children around the world.

He plans to climb Mount Vinson Massif on Antarctica in the winter of 2010 to complete his goal of climbing the world's seven highest summits.
