Fans of the popular Discovery Channel show Man vs. Wild were recently treated to an appearance by A-List actor Jake Gyllenhaal, who was filmed in Iceland sporting Vatnajokull fleece bibs from 66° North. Together with Bear Grylls he ascended the Eyjafjallajokull glacier amidst a raging winter snowstorm.
The same Eyjafjallajokull volcano that erupted in 2010 and sent a massive ash cloud over Europe, the crater itself, where lava melts deep holes into the glacier, is where they did their stunts. A rope was strung across a wide canyon, and clinging to it Jake Gyllenhaal hung more than 120 feet over the rocky bottom.
Walking between filming locations, Gyllenhaal was also spotted wearing 66° North‘s Langjokull PrimaLoft gloves—made from Crodura nylon, with Pittards leather in the palm, fleece lining and PrimaLoft filling that keeps hands warm and repels water.
