Standup Paddleboard Companies Settle Out of Court

Surfrider Foundation received a $25,000 donation this spring thanks to an out of court settlement between Stand Up Paddleboard competitors, surf shaper Jimmy Lewis and Starboard World Ltd.

Lewis filed suit in the Seattle Division of Washington Federal Court, alleging that Starboard and its U.S. Distributors altered pictures of their top rider using a Jimmy Lewis standup paddleboard and repeatedly published these photos in their catalog and advertisements.

The suit was dropped when an agreement was reached. In addition to the donation to Surfrider Foundation, Starboard has consented to stop using Jimmy Lewis products in its future advertisements.
